In-store product takeback is a fundamental part of Timberloop: Timberland’s circular design platform was born to reduce waste and give items a new life, acting on all phases from design to end-of-life management through recycling.

Launched in 2022, this initiative provides an easy way for consumers to give a second chance to used products. All you have to do is go to one of the 73 stores in the 9 countries (Austria, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden, UK) participating in the initiative. To find the closest location to bring your (preferably Timberland) worn-out apparel or footwear item visit the store finder page.

Both apparel and footwear items - are welcomed preferably Timberland branded products. In exchange for your contribution, you will receive a discount voucher to use in our shops. However, this is only the first step to close textile material loops. To elevate this initiative and achieve a more relevant impact Timberland has established partnerships with local charities: Humana, which handles take-back products from all continental Europe and Traid for the UK.

Who do we work with?

Our Timberloop Circularity Program is renewed through a partnership with Humana, an international cooperation organization engaged in humanitarian and sustainable development activities funded by the collection and resale of used clothing items. Moved by the same commitment to giving a second life to worn-out clothing through the Timbeloop program, 2024 will see us collaborate with this important association that, in Italy alone, handles 21,000 tons of clothing each year.

The products’ journey

In addition to donations from private individuals, it will now be possible to find re-sellable products collected through the Timberloop circuit in our stores across Austria, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden in Humana’s owned shops.

Once Humana receives the products, these items are sorted and mainly resold in their network of stores around the globe. On the other hand, in case of items showing signs of excessive wear and tear, these will be recycled. This approach ensures that even old clothing can be repurposed as a valuable resource for creating new materials.

Proceeds from the sale of products will support solidarity projects in education, agriculture, health, and community development globally. These initiatives aim to assist people in socio-economic fragility and raise awareness in schools and local communities. Humana is also committed to implementing projects with environmental and social impact.

Find out how you can contribute to a more sustainable future by actively participating in the Timberloop program by bringing your items to the adhering stores.
